Experience
Professional Journey
I spent many years working for the NHS in Employee Relations, and have a passion for helping people. Here I gained qualifications and experience as a coach and wellbeing support to my colleagues. As fulfilling as this role was, I knew I had more to offer and trained as a hypnotherapist, and later an advanced integrative counsellor. Due to my own personal journey, I have a special interest in relationships, grief and loss, and infidelity. Sadly, many families struggle to stay together after experiencing loss, be that the birth of a child with additional or complex needs, or infidelity. I realised there was a gap in the therapy available; grief counsellors aren't trained to work with couples, and couples therapists aren't trained to work with trauma or grief. I wanted to fill this need, so I continued to develop my knowledge and skills, studying courses in relationship therapy, traumatic grief and pregnancy and infant loss. Alongside my private practice I work as a volunteer counsellor for the Bereavement Counselling Service in Plymouth. I am in the process of becoming a member of British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics.
