About

Leanne Winter MBACP BA (hons) Adv. Hyp Dip

Hi, I'm Leanne, a qualified and experienced therapist with over six years of practice. I work in an integrative way, drawing on my skills as a counsellor and psychotherapist, coach and hypnotherapist, to provide the most effective service for each of my clients.

People often come to me when they're going through transitions, experiencing grief, affected by trauma, or struggling with intimacy or communication in relationships. I've developed a particular interest in working with couples, and am passionate about helping people feel more connected and empowered in their relationships.

My approach is compassionate and collaborative, with a steady grounding presence. I listen deeply, challenge gently, and support you to explore what's holding you back, and find ways to help you move forwards.

I have lived experience of loosing a child, relationship breakdown, financial challenges and living with neurodiversity, all of which have inspired me to be a therapist, and given me a deep empathy for people going through their own challenges.

Some of the issues I help my clients with:

  • Relationship breakdown and loss of desire

  • Navigating a consensual non-monogamous relationship

  • Loss of a pregnancy, baby or child

  • Conflict, fear and isolation

  • Parenting a child with additional or complex needs

  • Managing the effects of trauma and PTSD

  • Living with addiction

  • Supporting a partner with health issues

  • Infidelity and sexual issues

  • Physical, emotional and sexual abuse

  • Finding self acceptance and self love

  • Anxiety and depression

I am  LGBTQIA+ aligned and regularly work with people in consensually non-monogamous and polyamorous relationships. I work well with neurodiverse clients, and am happy to discuss any adjustments you may need to make your sessions more accessible.

Experience

Professional Journey

I spent many years working for the NHS in Employee Relations, and have a passion for helping people. Here I gained qualifications and experience as a coach and wellbeing support to my colleagues. As fulfilling as this role was, I knew I had more to offer and trained as a hypnotherapist, and later an advanced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. Due to my own personal journey, I have a special interest in relationships, grief and loss. I have continued to develop my knowledge and skills, studying courses in relationship therapy, traumatic grief, pregnancy and infant loss, neurodiversity and alternative lifestyles. Alongside my private practice I work as a volunteer counsellor for the Bereavement Counselling Service in Plymouth. I am a registered member of British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics.
